2nd Biennial European Astrobiology Conference (BEACON)

The theme of the 2nd Biennial European Astrobiology Conference (BEACON 2025) centers on exploring the origins, evolution, and distribution of life in the universe through a multidisciplinary lens. Bringing together experts in astronomy, planetary science, biology, chemistry, and the humanities, the conference aims to deepen our understanding of life’s emergence on Earth and its potential existence beyond. Key focus areas include planetary system formation, prebiotic chemistry, biosignatures, habitability, and the societal and ethical implications of discovering extraterrestrial life. By fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration, BEACON 2025 seeks to advance the frontiers of astrobiological research and education.

Dr. Christian Jenewein will be present at the conference for giving a talk on his recent publication in PNAS titled “Concomitant formation of protocells and prebiotic compounds under a plausible early Earth atmosphere” (link), which presents groundbreaking insights into the simultaneous emergence of protocellular structures and key biomolecules under early Earth conditions.
