Humans and chimpanzees may share more than close genetic ties: both appear to be fascinated by crystals. Experiments led by Professor Juan Manuel García-Ruiz found that chimpanzees readily distinguished crystals from ordinary stones and were particularly drawn to their transparency and geometric shapes. As reported by Deutsche Welle, the findings suggest that this attraction reflects a shared cognitive predisposition with deep evolutionary roots.
