The Andalusian performance The Crystallization of Dance, created by scientist Juan Manuel Garcia-Ruiz and flamenco dancer and choreographer Vanesa Aibar, will premiere on June 12 at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre in San Sebastián, after touring several venues across Spain.
The show “traces the historical relationship between crystals, modern dance, and flamenco, and invites the audience to reflect on their complementary artistic visions—juxtaposing the idea of abstraction, represented here by the inorganic and crystalline, with the empathy embodied by the biological and natural,” according to the announcement by the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), where García Ruiz currently works as an Ikerbasque research professor.
